Don Quixote

I have set off on a grand adventure determined to win honor and glory in the name of my ladylove, Dulcinea.  I have only good intentions.  But there are times that I have difficulty in distinguishing between reality and the pictures in my mind.  Regardless of which world I find myself, I am committed to remaining true to my chivalric concepts of right and wrong.

The Major

Columbia University made a gentleman of me in only ninety days. It was not easy for either of us. Actually, I am somewhat less than a Major -- and all of my commands have not remained afloat!

Please join me, if you dare, as I guide Quixote and Sancho through the environs of Casta del Sol and Beyond.  We have many windmills to tilt.

Casta del Sol Residents

We have many interesting people within Casta del Sol engaged in unique activities.  This section will be a weblog (blog) of some of our neighbors.

  1. Mrs. Hartman:  Author
  2. Mrs. McMahon:  Seasonal and patriotic designs
  3. Mr. Valente: Homes of Americana painter
  4. Mr. White: Creater of Minor's Minder
  5. Our Submariner:  Aboard the SS Pintado
  6. Our Dolphinette:  WWII Historian
  7. Lance Friesz:  Galaxy Goalkeeper

Website Activity

This website site is growing both in size and in the number of visitors.  Our cost in July 2004 was less than 3 cents per unique site that accessed "Casta del Sol and Beyond."  This is one-tenth the cost of a first-class USPS stamp.

Websites have several advantages over other forms of communication:

   a)  Low cost
   b)  Ready access (on-line)
   c)  Easy to correct and update
   d)  Can hold volumes of reference material

Active and productive seniors cannot afford to attend all the committee meetings.  A weblog, such as this website, is a most efficient way to make pertinent information available and to receive feedback from the homeowners.

It is often stated that nobody uses websites.  This website is proof that a properly constructed site within Casta del Sol can be and is being used.

And we just made it easier -- see Crayons Work.

This is the future -- and the future is now!

You Can Participate

Casta del Sol:  Reserved for the CdS Board of Directors, established committees and the recognized clubs.  It will be up to each of the entities to decide how they wish to utilize space under this heading.

Village Voice:  Open to anybody on most any subject, including politics. Mr. Major's requirements are that the submittals are interesting and are not contentious. Readers want to know what you are for -- not what you are against.

Let's Party:  Doubly open.  It is open to those who wish to organize an activity and to those who wish to participate in an activity.

Tutorials:  Open to all super-techs who have something unique and interesting to pass on especially about computers and websites.

Quixote's:  The windmills must be in your own words and humorous.

Handles:  Not only are Nom de Plumes permitted, they are encouraged.  This website is intended to be an arena of ideas, not personalities.
