THE WIVES OF U.S. SUB VETERANS, WWII
The Wives of US Sub Vets WWII is the ladies auxiliary of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II. It is a national organization with seven regional chapters. Their Charter is to "Assist and abet the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II in all of their endeavors, projects, and aid them in carrying out the purpose in their Constitution." Their "Pride Runs Deep." Casta del Sol's representative to the Wives of US Submarine Vets WWII is Ethel Chavis. The DOLPHINETTE, a SubVets Wives' magazine, is published March, July and November. Articles from the DOLPHINETTE of general national interest will be included periodically on this web page. World War II was the most violent armed conflict in the history of mankind and it united us with a common purpose. The U.S. submarines inflicted a devastating toll on the Japanese Imperial Navy and merchant marine. By war’s end, our submarine force had sunk 30 percent of the enemy’s naval force and 60 percent of their merchant ships. But this impressive victory came at a heavy price -- the submarine force suffered the highest casualty rate of any component of the U.S. Armed Services. The trauma of World War II is reflected in the Wives' National Prayer: Our Heavenly Father
Bless the souls of our husbands’ shipmates and our sisters still on patrol. Bless and protect their widows and orphans. Aid us in being true and loyal citizens of this great country of ours, and help us in all deliberations to work together as a true Auxiliary Crew, for peace and happiness to all mankind. |
