The following is one example of a technique used for reducing the "Home" webpage download time: Original (High Quality) picture as recorded by the camera is 725,881 bytes in the JPEG format. The picture, processed down by a PhotoShop type program is 103,445 bytes in the JPEG format. The picture, processed down by a professional Graphics program is 50,816 bytes in the JPEG format. Thus we are able to download to you an "acceptable" Gate 1 image using only 7% of the original number of pixels.
