Everybody Succeeds

| Everybody succeeds; some
simply choose to succeed at failing. I learned early in life that success
is not an accident. Two people have had a profound influence upon my
life; Vince Lombardi and Dennis Connor. Vince Lombardi taught me that success depends upon mental attitude and focus. Dennis Connor taught me that what one sees depends upon where one is standing. Mr. Lombardi taught me to look for reasons to succeed, not to look for reasons to fail. During the construction of this website, I have run into an incredible amount of negativeness from those with little vision. I truly wonder why these people choose failure. Failure becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for many. The second technique for success that I learned from Mr. Lombardi is the need for mental focus. How many times have you heard a member of a losing team give the reason for losing: "We lost our focus." It is amazing how often people choose to lose; it is a choice. I had Dennis Conner as a guest aboard my Ranger (we were neighbors). Mr. Conner was famous for having his crew members "in the wrong place" aboard his racing yachts. The fact that he had his crew standing "in the wrong place" is why he won the America's Cup -- twice. He had his crew standing where they could best see the effects of the wind and water upon his boat before his competitors were able to see the same effects upon theirs. Mr. Connor's techniques are not secrets, they are explained in his book: "The Art of Winning." Success is not difficult except to those who make it difficult. The Major [Top]
