Bill Gates Backs BloggingBill Gates' blessing of blogs came during his keynote speech at Microsoft's CEO Summit (May 20, 2004) held on the company's campus in Redmond, Seattle.Mr. Gates made a point of dwelling on blogs and said that although they started in the technical community they have come to be a broader social phenomenon. Blogs have advantages over the more traditional ways of keeping in touch. What blogging is about is that they make it easy to communicate. The ultimate idea is that you should get the information you want when you want it! [top]

Blogging: Power to the PeopleBlog is a contraction of the word weblogs, which originally were online diaries. Blogging has matured to the point where it now represents many special interest groups. The phenomenon is real and it is revolutionizing how our journalism and culture functions.Blogs are personal and have immediacy. Bypassing the arrogant mainstream media, blogging is truly democratic journalism. It can be anything you want it to be. It is yours. I welcome you to get started by submitting short articles to our editor. If you don't have the drift yet, links are blue (or purple) underlined words. They are blue if you have not visited the site recently and they turn to purple when you make the visit (The Major's convention). To see a typical argument, visit Pro&Con. [top]

The Future of BloggingThere are over 4 million hosted weblogs. If you are just becoming aware of blogging, it is because you are over the age of 30. Ninety percent of the bloggers are under 30. These kids are setting the culture for the next decade. Most blogging sites have fewer than twenty readers. Nano-audiences are the logical outcome of blogging sites. We are no longer captive to the arrogance of the Dan Blathers but we can access the arrogance of millions. On grungy blogger, an ex-waiter living in a one-bedroom apartment in Hollywood, CA, rummaging through corporate trash dumpsters, is now drawing more than 1,000,000 hits a day on his site, placing him in the top ten of the most popular websites. This is power to the people! Icebergs are never what they appear to be and so it is with blogging. Are you guilty of historical underdosing, thinking that you are living in a time when nothing is changing? [top]
